Nurturing Montana’s Bioscience Sector

The McLaughlin Research Institute, an independent, non-profit research organization in Great Falls focusing on the genetic control of normal development and disease susceptibility using the mouse as a model system, was one of the first members of the Montana Bioscience Alliance. Often with federal Small Business Innovation Research grants and small business technology transfer grants, there is a funding gap between the grant money and private investment that the state money pool can be used to bridge, Bargatze said.
